Integrated Hydrological Analysis of Little Akaki Watershed Using SWAT-MODFLOW, Ethiopia

نویسندگان

چکیده

In Ethiopia, groundwater is the main source of freshwater to support human consumption and socio-economic development. Little Akaki watershed located in Upper Awash basin, known for its high annual rainfall considered as potential recharge zone. On contrary, urbanization industrial expansion are increasing at an alarming rate area. This became a concern threatening resources’ sustainability. To address these challenges, integrated analysis numerical simulations were made. For estimation, SWAT model was used. The result indicated that mostly occurs from July October with maximum values August. average, estimated catchment 179 mm. simulation prediction flow system, MODFLOW 2005 head converges towards river and, finally, outlet watershed. study areas interactions between groundwater. scenario examination reveals present pumping by over fifty percent (by 50%, 100%, 200%) will surely cause visible decline near watershed, substantial baseflow reduction. reduction also indicates huge risk sustainability

Evaluating Three Hydrological Distributed Watershed Models: MIKE-SHE, APEX, SWAT

Selecting the right model to simulate a specific watershed has always been a challenge, and field testing of watersheds could help researchers to use the proper model for their purposes. The performance of three popular Geographic Information System (GIS)-based watershed simulation models (European Hydrological System Model (MIKE SHE), Agricultural Policy/Environmental Extender (APEX) and Soil ...

Simulation of Hydrological Balance in Eskandari Watershed Using SWAT Model and algorithms SUFI2

In order to manage watersheds, especially in mountainous areas that are not adequately station  hydrological phenomena simulation is important. In this study, the SWAT model used to simulate hydrologic basin Eskandari. Calibration and validation of models for the periods 2006-1992 and 2009-2015, respectively, using the algorithm SUFI2 in software SWAT CUP was done. To evaluate the simulation re...

Using SWAT and SWAT-CUP for hydrological simulation and uncertainty analysis in arid and semi-arid watersheds (Case study: Zoshk Watershed, Shandiz, Iran)

The aims of this project was to assess the capability of SWAT model and SWAT-CUP software in hydrological simulation and to evaluate the uncertainty of SWAT model in estimating runoff in arid and semi-arid watersheds. Model calibration and uncertainty analysis were performed using the Sequential Uncertainty Fitting (SUFI2) algorithm. In the stage of calibration and validation of water flow, per...

Integrated Assessment of Ferizi Watershed Based on Water Accounting Framework Using SWAT Model

Integrated assessment of the watershed is critical in arid and semi-arid areas due to the severe water stress in these regions. Data and information are an essential part of decision making and water governance to obtain integrated water resources management at the watershed scale. Water accounting is a helpful tool to organize information and present them as the standard indicators to achieve ...
